Adjusting the Tone and Colors of the Whole Image

You can adjust the tone and colors of the whole image by using the level adjustment or tone curve.

Adjusting the color saturation and contrast

Follow the procedure below to adjust the color saturation and contrast of the whole image.
  1. In the job list, double-click the job.
    The [Job Settings] window appears.
  2. Click .
  3. In [Level Adjustment], use the slider bars to adjust the following:
    [Cyan] / [Magenta] / [Yellow] / [Black]
    Move the bar to the + (right) direction to darken and to the - (left) direction to lighten the color.
    Set [Set individual level] to off to adjust [All Colors].
    [Contrast]
    Move the bar to the + (right) direction to increase and to the - (left) direction to decrease the contrast.
    [Brightness]
    Move the bar to the + (right) direction to increase and to the - (left) direction to decrease the brightness.
    [Reset ALL]
    Click this button to reset all level adjustment parameters to default values (0).
    You can check the adjusted image in the layout area.
    Tip
    • Adjusting the slider bars in [Level Adjustment] has the same effect as increasing or decreasing by 10 percent of the [OUT] value in the [Tone Curves] window (when [IN] is 50 percent) .
  4. Check the preview image, and then click [OK].

Adjusting the tone curve

Tone curve adjustments allow finer adjustment of tonal range and color and work in conjunction with the [Level Adjustment].
Follow the procedure below to use the tone curve to fine tune tones and colors.
  1. In the job list, double-click the job.
    The [Job Settings] window appears.
  2. Click .
  3. Click [Edit Tone Curves].
    The [Tone Curves] window appears.
  4. In [Static], select the color to be adjusted.
    You can adjust all colors at the same time by selecting [Apply to All Colors].
  5. Edit the tone curve.
    1. Click the certain point on the tone curve.
      A black dot (control point) is created at the point you clicked.
      You can create multiple control points.
    2. Perform one of the following to adjust the tone curve:
      • Drag the control point.
        Point to the control point, and then drag when appears.
      • Click the control point, and then enter the value in [IN] or [OUT].
      You can preview the adjusted image in the layout area.
    Tip
    • If you adjusted the level in [Level Adjustment], the adjusted curve appears in [Tone Curves] (as shown in the following diagram).

    • The horizontal axis defines the input value (before adjustment) and the vertical axis defines the output value (after adjustment).
    • When you create multiple control points, the control points other than one being dragged don't move so that you may adjust the specific point.
    • To reset the tone curve adjustment, click [Reset].
  6. Check the preview image, and then click [OK] to close the [Tone Curve] window.
  7. Click [OK].

Apply the tone curve adjustment to other jobs

Follow the procedure below to save the tone curve adjustment settings and apply it to another job.
  1. Follow "Adjusting the tone curve" to adjust the tone curve.
  2. Click [Save].
    In [Save as type], select [Roland Curve File], enter the file name, and then click [Save].
    The tone curve is saved.
  3. Click [OK] to close the [Tone Curves] window.
  4. Click [OK].
  5. If multiple printers are connected to the computer, select the printer that you want to apply the saved tone curve to.
  6. Double-click or .
    The [Queue A (B) Properties] window appears.
  7. Click , and then click [Edit Tone Curves].
    The [Tone Curves] window appears.
  8. Click [Load], and then load the Roland Curve file saved in step 2.
  9. Click [OK] to close the [Tone Curves] window.
  10. Click [OK].
  11. Add a job to the job list.
    The tone curve adjustment configured in step 1 is applied to the job.
